About this exercise

The cable rope incline tricep extension is performed lying on an incline bench facing a low cable pulley, using a rope attachment to extend the arms and target the triceps through a full range of motion. The incline angle shifts emphasis to the long head of the triceps while the cable provides continuous tension throughout the movement.

How to Perform

  • Set an adjustable bench to an incline angle and position it facing a low cable pulley
  • Attach a rope handle to the low cable
  • Lie back on the bench with the top of your head closest to the cable machine
  • Grasp the rope and raise your arms toward the ceiling with elbows bent and pointing upward
  • Keep your upper arms perpendicular to the floor and stationary throughout
  • Extend your forearms upward by fully straightening your elbows
  • Squeeze the triceps firmly at full extension
  • Slowly lower the rope back to the starting position
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
