About this exercise

The cable reverse wrist curl is an isolation exercise for the wrist extensors (forearm outer compartment), performed using a low cable pulley and an overhand grip. The constant cable tension provides consistent resistance throughout the movement, making it effective for developing forearm strength and size.

How to Perform

  • Kneel or sit in front of the low cable pulley and attach a straight bar
  • Grip the bar with an overhand (palms-down) grip, hands shoulder-width apart
  • Rest your forearms on your thighs or a bench with your wrists hanging off the edge
  • Allow your wrists to drop into full flexion as the starting position
  • Extend your wrists upward as far as possible, raising the back of your hands toward the ceiling
  • Hold the peak contraction briefly
  • Lower your wrists back to the starting position under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
