About this exercise

The cable reverse preacher curl uses a preacher (Scott) bench and a low cable pulley to isolate the forearm extensors and brachioradialis with an overhand grip. The angled pad prevents cheating by fixing the upper arms, ensuring all tension remains on the target muscles throughout the range of motion.

How to Perform

  • Position the scott bench in front of the low cable pulley and attach a straight bar
  • Sit at the bench and drape the backs of your upper arms over the angled pad
  • Grip the bar with an overhand (palms-down) shoulder-width grip
  • Start with your arms nearly fully extended at the bottom
  • Curl the bar upward in a controlled motion until your forearms are roughly vertical
  • Squeeze the forearms and brachioradialis at the top of the movement
  • Lower the bar slowly back to the starting position
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
