Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Cable Reverse One Arm Curl.

MediumOuter forearm

About this exercise

The cable reverse one arm curl is a unilateral forearm exercise performed at a low pulley cable station with an overhand (pronated) grip. The reverse grip shifts emphasis from the biceps to the brachioradialis and forearm extensors, making it an excellent isolation movement for building forearm thickness and grip strength.

How to Perform

  • Attach a single D-handle to a low pulley cable and stand facing the machine
  • Grasp the handle with one hand using an overhand (pronated) grip, arm fully extended at your side
  • Brace your core and keep your elbow tucked close to your torso
  • Curl the handle upward by flexing your elbow, keeping the overhand grip throughout
  • Squeeze the forearm at the top of the movement
  • Slowly lower the handle back to the starting position under control
  • Complete all reps on one arm before switching to the other
