About this exercise

The cable overhead curl is performed with the cable set at a high pulley and arms extended overhead, stretching the long head of the biceps at the start of the movement for a unique stimulus. This exercise builds peak biceps thickness and improves the mind-muscle connection through a long range of motion.

How to Perform

  • Set a cable pulley to its highest position and attach a rope or bar handle
  • Stand facing the machine and raise your arms overhead, gripping the handle with an underhand grip
  • Keep your elbows pointed upward and upper arms stationary throughout
  • Curl the handle toward your head by contracting the biceps
  • Squeeze the biceps firmly at the peak contraction
  • Extend your arms slowly back to the overhead starting position
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
