About this exercise

The cable one arm side triceps pushdown is a unilateral isolation exercise performed with the body turned sideways to the cable machine, allowing a unique pressing angle that emphasizes the lateral head of the triceps. The sideways position increases the range of motion and helps correct strength imbalances between arms.

How to Perform

  • Set a cable pulley to an adjustable height and attach a single D-handle
  • Stand sideways to the cable machine with your working arm closest to it
  • Grip the handle with an overhand grip at chest height, upper arm pinned to your side
  • Push the handle straight down by fully extending your elbow
  • Squeeze the triceps at the bottom of the movement
  • Slowly return the handle to the starting position under control
  • Complete all reps on one arm, then switch sides
