Cable Single Arm Curl

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Cable Single Arm Curl.

MediumBiceps

About this exercise

A unilateral biceps curl performed with a low cable pulley, allowing independent work on each arm. The cable maintains constant tension at the bottom of the movement where a dumbbell goes slack, making it highly effective for biceps isolation and peak contraction.

How to Perform

  • Set a cable pulley to the lowest position and attach a single D-handle
  • Stand or sit facing the machine and grip the handle with one hand, palm facing up
  • Keep your upper arm stationary against your side and curl the handle upward toward your shoulder
  • Squeeze your biceps hard at the top of the movement
  • Slowly lower the handle back to full arm extension under control
  • Complete all reps on one arm before switching to the other
