About this exercise

The cable lying single leg hip flexion is a unilateral isolation exercise performed lying on the floor with a cable attached to one ankle. It directly targets the hip flexors and rectus femoris by pulling the leg through a controlled arc toward the chest against cable resistance.

How to Perform

  • Attach an ankle strap to the low pulley cable and secure it around one ankle
  • Lie flat on your back with your head facing the cable machine, legs extended
  • Brace your core and press your lower back lightly into the floor
  • Keeping the working leg straight (or with a slight knee bend), lift it upward and toward your chest
  • Pause briefly at the top when your hip is at maximum flexion
  • Slowly lower the leg back to the starting position under control
