About this exercise

A compound triceps and chest movement performed lying on a flat bench in front of a low cable pulley. The rope attachment allows natural wrist rotation and combines a triceps extension with a pullover arc, engaging the long head of the triceps, upper chest, and lats simultaneously.

How to Perform

  • Set a flat bench in front of a low cable pulley and attach the rope handle
  • Lie flat on the bench with your head closest to the cable stack, feet flat on the floor
  • Grip the rope with both hands and extend your arms straight up above your chest as the starting position
  • Slowly lower the rope in an arc behind your head, allowing your elbows to bend as the rope passes overhead
  • Reverse the motion by pulling the rope up and over while extending your arms fully back to the start
  • Keep your core braced and avoid letting your lower back arch excessively
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
