About this exercise

A chest press variation performed with cables set at a high anchor point, pressing downward and forward to emphasize the lower pectoral fibers. The decline angle of the movement recruits the sternal and lower portions of the chest more effectively than a flat press.

How to Perform

  • Set both cable pulleys to their highest position and attach D-handles
  • Stand in the center of the cable crossover machine with feet shoulder-width apart
  • Grasp a handle in each hand at shoulder height with palms facing down
  • Stagger one foot forward slightly for stability
  • Press both handles downward and forward until your arms are fully extended at hip level
  • Squeeze your lower chest at full extension
  • Slowly return to the starting position with control
