About this exercise

The Cable Kneeling Shoulder Internal Rotation strengthens the subscapularis and anterior rotator cuff by rotating the forearm inward against cable resistance. The kneeling position eliminates lower-body momentum, ensuring the work is done entirely by the shoulder joint.

How to Perform

  • Attach a single-D handle to a low pulley cable and kneel with the far-side knee down beside the machine
  • Grasp the handle in the hand closest to the cable with your elbow bent to 90 degrees
  • Press your elbow firmly against your side and keep it fixed throughout the movement
  • Rotate your forearm inward and across your body toward your abdomen
  • Continue rotating until your forearm is roughly parallel to the floor or as far as comfortable
  • Slowly return the handle to the starting position under full control
  • Complete all reps on one side, then switch sides and repeat
