About this exercise

The cable kneeling rear delt row uses a low-pulley cable with a rope attachment performed from a kneeling position. This angle targets the posterior deltoid and upper back while the kneeling posture eliminates lower-body involvement and reduces momentum, enforcing strict form.

How to Perform

  • Attach a rope handle to a low-pulley cable machine and kneel facing the machine
  • Grasp the rope ends with a neutral grip and sit back slightly so your torso is inclined forward
  • Pull the rope toward your face, spreading your elbows wide and out to the sides
  • Squeeze the rear deltoids and upper back at full contraction
  • Return the rope forward in a controlled manner without letting your shoulders round
  • Keep your core braced and hips stationary throughout the set
