About this exercise

The Cable Kneeling Pull Through is a hip-hinge exercise performed from a kneeling position using a low-pulley cable with a rope attachment. It isolates the glutes and hamstrings while reinforcing proper hip extension mechanics, making it a valuable accessory movement for athletes and lifters.

How to Perform

  • Attach a rope to the low pulley and kneel facing away from the cable machine
  • Reach between your legs and grasp the rope with both hands
  • Allow your hips to hinge back as the cable pulls your hands through your legs
  • Drive your hips forward and extend upright, squeezing your glutes hard at the top
  • Hold the contraction briefly, then slowly hinge back and allow your hands to travel back between your legs
