MediumTriceps

About this exercise

The Cable Jack Hammer Pushdown targets the triceps using a rope attachment on a high pulley, driving both handles straight down in a jackhammer-like motion. The neutral hammer grip reduces wrist stress and places emphasis on the lateral head of the triceps.

How to Perform

  • Attach a rope handle to a high pulley cable machine
  • Stand facing the machine and grip each end of the rope with a neutral (hammer) grip
  • Keep your elbows tucked in at your sides
  • Push both handles straight down until your arms are fully extended, flaring the rope ends outward at the bottom
  • Pause briefly at full extension to maximise triceps contraction
  • Slowly return to the starting position while keeping tension on the cable
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
