About this exercise

The cable incline triceps extension is performed lying on an incline bench facing away from a high cable pulley. The overhead position created by the incline places the long head of the triceps in a stretched position, maximizing tension throughout the movement.

How to Perform

  • Set a high cable pulley and attach a rope or bar handle, then angle an adjustable bench to about 45 degrees beneath the pulley
  • Lie on the bench with your head at the top, facing away from the cable, and reach back to grasp the handle
  • Hold the handle overhead with elbows bent and upper arms close to your ears
  • Keeping your upper arms fixed, extend your elbows to straighten your arms fully
  • Slowly lower the handle back toward your head to the starting position
