About this exercise

A unilateral lat pulldown performed with the torso leaning back at an incline, increasing the stretch on the latissimus dorsi and improving the mind-muscle connection. Using a single arm allows for greater range of motion and corrects left-right imbalances.

How to Perform

  • Set an adjustable bench to a slight incline and position it facing the cable lat pulldown machine
  • Attach a single-D handle to the high pulley and select your weight
  • Sit on the incline bench facing away from the machine, leaning back at roughly 30–45 degrees
  • Extend your working arm toward the pulley with a neutral or pronated grip
  • Pull the handle down and toward your hip, leading with the elbow and squeezing the lat
  • Slowly extend your arm back up to the starting position under control
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching arms
