About this exercise

A cable rear delt fly performed in an incline chest-down position with the back supported against an adjustable bench, eliminating body sway and isolating the rear deltoids and upper back. The incline angle places the rear delts under continuous tension throughout the range of motion.

How to Perform

  • Set an adjustable bench to a moderate incline (around 45 degrees) and position it between two low cable pulleys
  • Attach single-D handles to both cable stacks and set a light-to-moderate weight
  • Lie chest-down on the bench with your back against the pad, feet flat on the floor
  • Hold one handle in each hand with arms hanging straight down, palms facing each other
  • With a slight bend in your elbows, raise both arms outward and upward in an arc until they reach shoulder height
  • Squeeze the rear deltoids at the top of the movement
  • Slowly lower your arms back to the starting position with control
