About this exercise

The Cable High Pulley Overhead Triceps Extension with a straight bar targets the long head of the triceps through a full stretched range of motion. Standing with your back to the high pulley, you extend the bar overhead to fully lengthen and then contract the long head of the triceps.

How to Perform

  • Set the cable to the highest pulley position and attach a straight bar handle
  • Grip the bar with an overhand shoulder-width grip, then step forward so the cable pulls from behind you
  • Raise the bar overhead and position your upper arms alongside your head, elbows pointing forward
  • Brace your core and extend your forearms forward and upward until your arms are fully straight
  • Squeeze your triceps at the top of the movement
  • Slowly lower the bar back behind your head to the fully stretched starting position
