About this exercise

The Cable Half-Kneeling Pallof Press is an anti-rotation core stability exercise performed in a half-kneeling stance perpendicular to a cable machine. You press the handle straight out from your chest and resist the rotational pull of the cable, challenging the obliques and deep core muscles to keep the spine neutral.

How to Perform

  • Set the cable pulley to chest height and attach a single D-handle
  • Kneel on the inside knee, with the outside foot planted flat on the floor, perpendicular to the cable
  • Hold the handle with both hands at your chest, elbows bent and tucked
  • Brace your core and press the handle straight out in front of you until your arms are fully extended
  • Hold for one second, resisting the rotational pull of the cable
  • Return the handle slowly back to your chest under control
  • Complete all reps on one side, then switch sides
