About this exercise

The Cable Goblet Squat is a lower-body exercise where a low-cable attachment is held at chest height in a goblet position, providing forward-pulling resistance that encourages an upright torso and deep squat depth. It targets the quadriceps while also challenging core stability.

How to Perform

  • Set a low pulley cable and attach a rope or handle, then stand facing the machine with feet shoulder-width apart
  • Grasp the handle with both hands and hold it at chest level in a goblet position
  • Keep your chest up, core braced, and heels flat on the floor
  • Descend into a squat by pushing the knees out and sitting back and down
  • Lower until your thighs are at least parallel to the floor
  • Drive through your heels to stand back up to the starting position
  • Maintain tension on the cable throughout the entire rep
