About this exercise

The cable forearm pronation is an isolation exercise that trains the pronator muscles of the forearm by rotating the palm downward against cable resistance. It is commonly used for elbow rehabilitation, balanced forearm development, and improving wrist control for sports and pressing movements.

How to Perform

  • Set a cable pulley to a low or mid position and attach a rope or single-handle
  • Stand or sit perpendicular to the cable machine and grasp the handle with one hand, palm facing up (supinated)
  • Keep your elbow bent at approximately 90 degrees and tucked close to your side
  • Rotate your forearm so your palm turns downward (pronation) in a smooth, controlled arc
  • Pause briefly at the fully pronated position
  • Slowly return to the supinated starting position, resisting the cable throughout
  • Complete all reps on one arm, then repeat on the other
