About this exercise

The Boxing Duck and Uppercut combines a defensive head movement with an explosive upward punch, building full-body coordination, core stability, and cardiovascular conditioning. The duck trains reactive evasion while the uppercut develops rotational leg drive and shoulder power.

How to Perform

  • Begin in a fighting stance with hands raised to guard position and knees slightly bent
  • Quickly bend your knees and dip your torso downward to duck under an imaginary incoming punch
  • Keep your chin tucked and your guard hands up near your face during the duck
  • As you rise out of the duck, load your rear hand by dropping it slightly
  • Drive explosively upward with an uppercut, pushing through your legs and rotating your hips into the punch
  • Aim the uppercut at chin height on an imaginary target and snap your fist back to guard immediately
  • Reset to fighting stance and repeat the sequence for the desired number of repetitions
