About this exercise

A plyometric landing drill where you step off a box and land in a split stance — one foot forward and one back — training asymmetric deceleration, hip stability, and frontal-plane control.

How to Perform

  • Stand on top of a box or step with feet together
  • Step off the edge and drop toward the floor
  • Land in a split stance with one foot forward and one foot back, absorbing impact through both legs
  • Keep the front knee aligned over its toes and the rear knee soft
  • Maintain an upright torso and a braced core on landing
  • Hold the split-stance position briefly to confirm balance before resetting
  • Alternate the leading foot each rep, or complete a set on each side
