About this exercise

A challenging compound exercise that combines a step-up onto a BOSU ball with a single-leg deadlift, testing balance, hip strength, and posterior chain stability. The unstable dome surface forces deep core and glute activation to maintain control throughout both phases.

How to Perform

  • Place a BOSU ball flat side down on the floor and stand behind it
  • Step one foot onto the dome of the BOSU ball and stand upright on that leg
  • Hinge forward at the hip while extending the free leg straight behind you, keeping your back flat
  • Lower your torso until it is roughly parallel to the floor or you feel a stretch in the hamstring of the standing leg
  • Squeeze the glutes and drive through the standing heel to return to upright
  • Step back off the BOSU ball with control
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching legs
