About this exercise

The bodyweight tibialis raise is a simple yet effective exercise for strengthening the tibialis anterior — the muscle running along the shin. Performed with your back against a wall and heels on the floor, you repeatedly dorsiflex the foot to lift the toes as high as possible, building shin strength that supports knee health and ankle stability.

How to Perform

  • Stand with your back against a wall and heels roughly 30 cm in front of the wall
  • Keep your legs straight and arms relaxed at your sides or resting on the wall for balance
  • Lift both feet — raising your toes and the front of your feet as high toward your shins as possible
  • Squeeze the shins at the top of the movement for a brief pause
  • Lower the feet slowly back to the floor under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps, keeping the movement smooth and controlled
