About this exercise

The Bodyweight Svend Press mimics the classic Svend Press by pressing both palms firmly together in front of the chest and pushing the arms forward, creating chest tension through isometric squeezing rather than external load. It is an accessible chest exercise requiring no equipment.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright or sit tall with your spine neutral
  • Press both palms flat together directly in front of your chest, fingers pointing forward
  • Squeeze your hands together as hard as possible to create chest tension
  • Slowly extend your arms forward until they are nearly straight
  • Pause for a moment, maintaining the squeeze
  • Draw your hands back toward your chest with control
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
