About this exercise

A bodyweight overhead pressing drill performed with the back flat against a wall to enforce neutral spine alignment and reduce compensatory arching. It trains the shoulder flexors and triceps through the overhead press pattern and is commonly used as a mobility or rehab exercise.

How to Perform

  • Stand with your back against a wall and feet about 30 cm in front of it
  • Press your head, upper back, and lower back gently into the wall
  • Raise your arms to shoulder height with elbows bent at 90 degrees and the backs of your hands touching the wall
  • Slowly press your arms overhead, keeping your hands in contact with the wall throughout
  • Stop when your arms are fully extended or as high as you can reach without losing contact
  • Lower your arms back to the 90-degree starting position under control and repeat
