About this exercise

A standing overhead pressing movement performed without external load, using only the weight of the arms to train the shoulder-pressing pattern and warm up the rotator cuff. It is commonly used as a mobility drill, activation exercise, or form primer before loaded pressing variations.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall with feet shoulder-width apart and core braced
  • Raise your hands to shoulder height with elbows bent at roughly 90 degrees, palms facing forward
  • Press both arms straight overhead until fully extended, keeping your ribcage down and core tight
  • Do not allow your lower back to arch excessively at the top
  • Lower your arms in a controlled manner back to the starting position at shoulder height
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
