About this exercise

The bodyweight squat on slackline is an advanced balance and strength skill where you perform a full squat while standing on a tensioned webbing line. The unstable surface recruits the entire lower body and core to maintain stability throughout the movement.

How to Perform

  • Set up the slackline close to the ground and mount it by stepping on with both feet
  • Stand upright with arms extended out to the sides for balance
  • Slowly lower into a squat by bending your knees and sitting your hips back, keeping your chest up
  • Descend until your thighs are parallel to the ground or as far as balance allows
  • Press through your feet to return to standing, maintaining control on the slackline
  • Keep your core braced and gaze fixed on a stationary point ahead to aid balance
  • Master standing balance on the slackline before attempting squats
