About this exercise

A bodyweight squat performed in the goblet position — hands clasped at chest level — with a deliberate pause held at the bottom of each repetition. The pause eliminates the stretch-shortening reflex, increasing time under tension and reinforcing proper squat mechanics and mobility.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and toes turned slightly out
  • Clasp your hands together and hold them at chest level in the goblet position
  • Brace your core and maintain a tall chest throughout the movement
  • Squat down by pushing your knees out and sitting between your heels
  • Hold the bottom position for 2–3 seconds while staying upright
  • Drive through your heels to stand back up to the starting position
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
