About this exercise

A bodyweight scapular stability exercise performed face down on the floor, where the arms are raised into a Y shape to target the lower trapezius and rear deltoids. It is commonly used as a postural corrective drill and warm-up for overhead pressing movements.

How to Perform

  • Lie face down on the floor with your arms extended overhead in a Y shape, thumbs pointing up
  • Keep your forehead lightly touching the floor or just above it
  • Squeeze your shoulder blades together and down, then lift both arms off the floor
  • Hold the top position for a second, fully extending through the thumbs
  • Lower your arms back to the floor under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
