MediumQuadriceps

About this exercise

A challenging bodyweight exercise performed from a kneeling position that isolates the quadriceps through a deep knee flexion. By leaning back from a tall kneeling position while keeping the hips extended, the movement places intense stress on the quadriceps through a long range of motion.

How to Perform

  • Kneel on the floor with your knees hip-width apart and toes pressed into the ground
  • Sit tall with hips fully extended and arms extended in front for balance
  • Brace your core and slowly lean your torso backward, lowering toward the floor
  • Keep your hips extended throughout — do not let them break at the hip
  • Lower as far as your quad strength and flexibility allow
  • Contract your quadriceps to pull your torso back to the upright kneeling position
  • Maintain a rigid, straight line from knees to shoulders throughout the movement
