About this exercise

Standing core exercise that mimics a medicine-ball slam using only bodyweight — you explosively drive your arms and torso downward and forward to maximally contract the abdominals. It trains core power and neuromuscular activation without any equipment.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and arms raised overhead
  • Brace your core and take a slight breath in
  • Explosively swing your arms forward and down while hinging at the hips and folding your torso toward the floor
  • Engage your abs fully at the bottom of the slam
  • Let your arms reach toward the floor as you exhale sharply
  • Drive back up to the starting position by extending the hips and lifting your arms overhead
  • Repeat for the prescribed number of repetitions
