About this exercise

Bodybuilding posing is a practice discipline in which competitors hold and transition through mandatory poses to display muscular development, symmetry, and conditioning. Regular posing practice improves muscle-mind connection, helps identify weak points, and trains the ability to maximally contract all muscle groups simultaneously.

How to Perform

  • Stand in front of a mirror wearing minimal clothing to observe your physique
  • Begin with a relaxed stance, feet shoulder-width apart
  • Transition into a mandatory pose such as front double bicep, side chest, or rear lat spread
  • Maximally contract the targeted muscle groups while maintaining an aesthetically pleasing line
  • Hold each pose for 3–5 seconds to practice sustaining the contraction
  • Breathe steadily — exhale fully to tighten the midsection during each pose
  • Cycle through all desired poses in sequence for the session duration
