About this exercise

A plyometric jumping drill where the feet alternate between a wide open stance and a crossed position in rapid succession. The movement challenges lower-body power, coordination, and cardiovascular fitness. It is often used in conditioning circuits and athletic warm-ups.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet together, knees slightly bent, and arms relaxed at your sides
  • Jump explosively, landing with feet wider than shoulder-width apart (open position)
  • Immediately jump again, crossing your right foot in front of your left as you land
  • Jump once more back to the wide open position
  • Jump again crossing the left foot in front of the right
  • Continue alternating the cross direction with each repetition
  • Land softly on the balls of your feet to absorb impact
  • Maintain an upright torso and keep your core engaged throughout
