About this exercise

A floor-based bodyweight movement performed on all fours that combines a glute kickback with a lateral leg sweep to target the glutes and outer hip. It builds hip strength and mobility while improving the mind-muscle connection in the posterior chain.

How to Perform

  • Start on all fours with your wrists directly under your shoulders and knees under your hips
  • Keep your core braced and back flat throughout the movement
  • Drive your working knee back until your thigh is parallel to the floor (glute kickback)
  • From that extended position, sweep the leg out to the side in a controlled arc
  • Hold briefly at the top of the lateral position, squeezing the glute
  • Return the leg to the back position, then lower back to the starting position
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching legs
