About this exercise

The behind the head ball slam is a powerful full-body exercise where you raise a medicine ball up and behind your head before explosively slamming it into the ground. It develops explosive strength through the core, shoulders, and lats while generating maximum power from the hips.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart holding a medicine ball at chest height
  • Raise the ball upward and slightly behind your head with arms extended
  • Explosively drive through your hips and core while swinging the ball forward and downward
  • Forcefully slam the ball into the floor directly in front of you, hinging at the hips as you release
  • Catch the ball on the rebound or pick it up and reset before the next repetition
