About this exercise

A full-body conditioning drill that combines alternating rope waves with a controlled kneeling get-up pattern. The continuous alternating wave motion challenges cardiovascular endurance and upper-body stamina while the kneeling transitions engage the hips, glutes, and core.

How to Perform

  • Anchor a set of battling ropes at ground level and grab one end in each hand
  • Stand facing the anchor point with a slight hip hinge and soft bend in the knees
  • Begin alternating waves by pumping each arm up and down in opposition at a consistent rhythm
  • While maintaining the waves, step one foot back and lower that knee to the floor, then bring the other knee down
  • Continue the alternating waves from the kneeling position for a moment
  • Rise by stepping one foot forward to stand, then bring the other foot forward
  • Continue this kneeling get-up cycle for the target duration or number of reps
