About this exercise

The barbell reverse preacher curl uses the Scott bench to lock the upper arms in place while an overhand grip targets the brachialis, brachioradialis, and forearm extensors. The preacher pad eliminates momentum and forces strict elbow flexion.

How to Perform

  • Adjust the preacher bench pad to a comfortable height and sit facing it
  • Grip the barbell with a shoulder-width overhand (pronated) grip
  • Lay the back of your upper arms flat on the pad with your elbows slightly bent
  • Curl the bar upward toward your chin by flexing at the elbow
  • Squeeze the forearms and brachialis at the top
  • Slowly lower the bar back to the starting position, stopping just short of full extension
