About this exercise

The Barbell Reverse Grip Incline Bench Row is a compound pulling exercise performed while lying prone on an incline bench. The supinated (underhand) grip shifts more emphasis onto the lower lats and biceps, while the incline setup removes lower back stress and enforces strict form.

How to Perform

  • Set an adjustable bench to a low-to-moderate incline (roughly 30–45 degrees)
  • Lie face-down on the bench and hold the barbell with a shoulder-width underhand (supinated) grip
  • Let the bar hang at arm's length below the bench
  • Drive your elbows back and pull the bar toward your lower chest, squeezing your lats at the top
  • Hold the contraction briefly, then lower the bar slowly back to the starting position
  • Keep your chest firmly against the bench throughout the movement
  • Avoid shrugging your shoulders or using momentum
