HardQuadriceps

About this exercise

A front squat variation where the barbell starts from safety pins set inside a squat rack, requiring each rep to begin from a dead-stop position at the bottom. This eliminates the stretch-reflex advantage and demands pure starting strength from the quadriceps.

How to Perform

  • Set the safety pins in the squat rack at a height matching the bottom of your front squat
  • Position the barbell on your front deltoids and collarbone in the front rack position with elbows high
  • Sit down into the squat until the bar rests on the pins, keeping your torso upright
  • Pause completely, letting all momentum dissipate
  • Drive through your heels and legs to stand, keeping your elbows high throughout
  • Re-rack the bar after completing all reps
