About this exercise

A horizontal pulling exercise performed by lying under a barbell set in a rack at approximately waist height, then rowing your chest up to the bar. This bodyweight-leveraged row builds thickness in the lats and mid-back while requiring no additional loading beyond the barbell and your body position.

How to Perform

  • Set a barbell on the rack pins at approximately hip to waist height
  • Lie face-up underneath the bar and grip it with both hands slightly wider than shoulder-width
  • Extend your legs and keep your body in a straight line from heels to head, resting on your heels
  • Pull your chest up toward the bar by driving your elbows back and squeezing your shoulder blades together
  • Pause briefly when your chest touches or nears the bar
  • Lower yourself back down in a controlled manner until your arms are fully extended
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
