About this exercise

A barbell pressing movement performed on a high-incline bench (around 70–80°) that targets the front deltoids and upper chest. The steep incline shifts the emphasis from the pectorals toward the anterior shoulder, making it an effective compound exercise for overall shoulder development.

How to Perform

  • Set an adjustable bench to a high incline angle (approximately 70–80 degrees) and sit back against it
  • Unrack or clean a barbell and hold it with a shoulder-width overhand grip at upper-chest height
  • Brace your core, press your back firmly into the bench, and push the barbell directly upward
  • Extend your arms fully at the top without locking out the elbows aggressively
  • Lower the barbell back to upper-chest/shoulder level in a controlled manner
  • Repeat for the target number of repetitions
