The barbell behind-the-back finger curl isolates the finger flexors and forearm muscles by rolling a barbell up from the fingertips while holding it behind your body. It is a targeted forearm exercise that improves grip strength and finger flexor endurance.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright and hold a barbell behind your thighs with both hands using an overhand (pronated) grip, shoulder-width apart
  • Allow the bar to roll down to your fingertips, extending your fingers fully
  • Curl the bar back up by flexing your fingers and then your wrist, squeezing your forearms at the top
  • Lower the bar slowly back to the fingertip position under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
