About this exercise

The Band Twist is a rotational core exercise that uses a resistance band anchored at chest height to generate tension through the obliques. It builds rotational strength and stability in the waist while keeping the hips square throughout the movement.

How to Perform

  • Anchor a resistance band at chest height and stand sideways to the anchor point
  • Grasp the band with both hands and extend your arms straight in front of your chest
  • Brace your core and rotate your torso away from the anchor point, keeping your hips square and feet planted
  • Pause briefly at maximum rotation, then slowly return to the starting position under control
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching to the other
