About this exercise

The Resistance Band Standing Single-Arm Chest Fly is a unilateral chest isolation exercise performed standing with a resistance band anchored to the side. Working one arm at a time allows for a greater stretch across the chest and helps correct muscular imbalances between sides.

How to Perform

  • Anchor the resistance band to a fixed point at approximately chest height to your side
  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and hold the band with the hand closest to the anchor point
  • Step away from the anchor to create tension in the band, arm extended to the side
  • With a slight bend in your elbow, sweep your arm forward and across your body in an arc
  • Pause when your hand reaches the center of your chest
  • Slowly return your arm to the starting position under control
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching
