About this exercise

A chest pressing exercise performed standing with a resistance band anchored behind you at chest height. Pressing the band forward in a horizontal plane targets the pectoral muscles and front deltoids while also engaging the core for stability.

How to Perform

  • Anchor a resistance band behind you at chest height, such as around a door frame or sturdy post
  • Grip the band handles (or ends) and stand facing away from the anchor, feet staggered for balance
  • Hold the handles at chest height with your elbows bent, palms facing down
  • Brace your core and press the handles straight forward until your arms are fully extended
  • Pause briefly at full extension, squeezing your chest
  • Slowly return your hands back to chest height under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
