About this exercise

A unilateral lower-body exercise where the front foot rests on a low box while a resistance band adds extra tension, targeting the quadriceps and glutes through an extended range of motion. The elevated surface shifts more load onto the front leg and improves hip mobility.

How to Perform

  • Loop a resistance band just above your knees or anchor it around your hips for added resistance
  • Place your front foot flat on top of a low box and step your rear foot back into a split stance
  • Stand tall, brace your core, and keep your chest upright
  • Lower your rear knee toward the floor by bending both knees to approximately 90 degrees
  • Drive through the heel of your front foot to press back up to the starting position
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching legs
