About this exercise

A seated overhead press performed with a resistance band using a neutral (hammer) grip, where palms face each other throughout the movement. This grip reduces shoulder joint stress while effectively targeting the front and side deltoids.

How to Perform

  • Sit upright on a bench or chair and loop the resistance band under both feet
  • Hold the ends of the band at shoulder height with palms facing each other (neutral grip)
  • Brace your core and keep your back straight
  • Press both handles overhead until your arms are fully extended
  • Pause briefly at the top, then slowly lower back to shoulder height
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
