EasyGlutes

About this exercise

A seated hip mobility and strengthening exercise that targets the external rotators of the hip, including the glutes and deep hip rotator muscles, using a resistance band for added load. Improving hip external rotation helps with squat depth, running mechanics, and reducing knee stress.

How to Perform

  • Sit upright on a bench or chair with your feet flat on the floor, hip-width apart
  • Place a short resistance band around both knees
  • Keep your foot planted on the floor and rotate one knee outward against the band resistance
  • Move the knee as far to the side as possible while keeping your foot stationary
  • Pause briefly at the end of the range of motion
  • Slowly return the knee to the starting position, controlling the band tension
  • Complete all reps on one side, then switch legs
